- Not a lot of people would design a space using the colors white, black, and gray (some wouldn't consider them colors) but I did! Designing this Boston apartment was one of my favorite projects. I decided to use a monochromatic high contrast scheme in order for the mirrored furniture and decor to stand out.

3. Lacy Gracy:
Lace-based nail art has been gathering quite a lot of attention lately. I would recommend that you try this out through a professional nail art designer since they will have more finesse while doing the fine lines. However, that does not mean that you cannot try this at home. You definitely can, especially if you have a steady hand or a stencil.
Materials:
- Gold nail polish
- Nude nail polish
- Black nail polish
- Fine nail art brush (you can even use a paintbrush)

Step-wise Instructions:

- Dip the nail paint brush in the black nail polish and start by drawing two slanted lines meeting at the center of you nail.
- Once the base trimming of your lace is done, start by drawing the frills of your desired shapes.
- To seal in the design, apply a final coat of the clear nailpolish.
4. Master of Swirls:
Golden and maroon make a classic combo whether it comes to clothing or accessories, so why not use the same for nails too? Depending on your expertise and comfort, you can choose the design from simple creepers to intricate lace-like nail art.

- To give a contrasting background, use the light blue nail polish to apply a base coat and allow it to dry thoroughly.
- Use pieces of scotch tape to mask strips of your nails. The exposed part will be colored while the covered one will remain blue.
- Alternate between the two stripes. First, use the neon orange color to paint the neon orange checks.
- Take off the scotch tape while the nail polish is semi-wet. Allow it to completely dry.
- Now reverse the application of the scotch tape. Paste the tape over the neon orange bits and leave the blue portion exposed. Follow the same step as point no. 3 using the black nail paint.
- Once again, when the nail polish is semi-wet, take the tape off.
- Let your nails dry.
- Dip your brush in the silver nail polish and draw straight lines passing through the center of the checkered squares.

7. Ruby Red Nail Art:
Turn on the heat with this drop dead gorgeous ruby red nail art design. The spray of cool silver against the red hot nails offer a striking contrast. You are not party ready unless your nails look like this!
Materials:
- Bright Red nail polish
- Silver nail polish
- White nail polish
- Thin paint or nail art brush
Step-wise Instructions:
- Start by filing your nails into a ballerina shape. Find the center of your nail and file along the lines (pretty much like stiletto nails) and then square out your nails at the tips.
- Use the bright red nail polish to paint the base coat.
- Paint one edge of the nails of your middle finger’s nail in silver color. You can dab on the silver nail polish for an effect similar to spray painting.
- Dip the thin nail paint brush in the white nail polish and draw some wavy lines.
8. Matte Stilettoes:
This nail art idea is a classy way to add a pop of color to your nails. These nails can be worn at all and every occasion. Stiletto nails look best with all types of fingers but the wearer needs to be careful. You need to have thick and sturdy nails or else they may break. This nail style will make your fingers appear longer than they actually are.
Materials:
- Matte Light Blue nail polish
- Nail file
Step-wise Instructions:
- Start by shaping the nail. Find the center point of your nail and start filing at the sides of your nails so to meet at the center.
- Apply two coats of the light blue matte nail polish. And just like that, you are all ready!
9. Multi-color Oval Nails:
I have used 3 colors, namely, black, white, and gold. However, when trying out this cool nail art design, you can have fun and pick your favorite colors. Oval-shaped nails are one of the many traditional nail shapes that have been in style since the late 1990s. Those with short fingers can use this shape to give the illusion of having long fingers.
Materials:
- Black nail polish (Glossy)
- White nail polish (Matte)
- Gold nail polish (Sparkly)
- Nail file
Step-wise Instructions:
- To get oval nails, use the nail file along all the sides of your nail to get a shape much like an egg.
- Start by painting the accent nails, which are your ring finger’s nails in this case. Paint them white using the white nail polish.
- Use the black nail polish on your thumb and the middle finger’s nails.
- Paint your pinkie and pointer gold with the golden nail polish.
10. Starry Night on Nails:
If you like blingy nails, then this is the perfect nail design for you. The dull grey-blue nail polish greatly complements the sparkles of the nail jewel. With just a few rhinestones and nail art glue, you can create a look worth diamonds and gold!
Materials:
- Rhinestones of various sizes
- Aqua nail polish (or any shade of pale blue)
- Nail art glue
- Lacquer
Step-wise Instructions:
- Except for the nails of your ring finger, apply two coats of the aqua nail polish.
- Apply nail glue on your ring finger’s nails. Position the rhinestones of the different sizes to cover as much space as possible.
- Allow all the nails to dry completely.
- Finish off the nail art by applying the lacquer on the blue nails.
11. Sparkly Stiletto:
If you think that matt nail art is too boring, then you should give this shiny twist a try. Once again, you will have to file your nails in a stiletto shape.
Materials:
- Clear nail polish
- Nail file
- Rose nail polish (sparkly)
- Nail art stickers (curved)
Step-wise Instructions:

- Start by shaping your nails into the stiletto shape. Find the middle point of your nails and start filing in a diagonal direction towards the middle.
- Secure the curved nail art stickers at a distance from the tip of the nail. Make sure that it is pasted without any bumps or pockets.
- Apply the rose nail polish on the tips along the direction of the grain of your nails.
- After a while, remove the nail art stickers to get clean and well-defined borders.
- Finish off the complete design by applying lacquer for uniformity.
12. Modern Art:
This amazing nail art design takes a while to create but is totally worth the time and effort. However, if you are going to try it at home, you may need at least a basic understanding of nail art. Plus, feel free to get creative on the shapes of your liking. Keep it simple by using just three tones of nail polish.
Materials:
- Nude nail polish
- Black nail polish
- White nail polish
- Thin nail art brush
Step-wise Instructions:
- Apply two base coats of the matte nail polish. You may also choose peach or dull pink.
- On the thumb, use the brush of the white nail polish to draw a strip cutting diagonally through the top section. Dip the nail art brush in black nail polish and draw fine stripes only in the white strip section.
- Apply some white nail polish on a clean nail art brush. Draw three zig-zag lines on the top section.
- Using the fine nail art brush, draw triangular spiral shapes on the nail of the middle finger.
- Section one area of the ring finger’s nail using some black nail polish. Dip the thin brush in some white nail polish and draw two vertical lines on one side. On the other side, draw three columns of polka dots.
- On your pinkie, use the fine line brush to draw the hamburger sign (three horizontal lines) or crosses, or polka dots in both, white and black, nail polish.
13. Floral Round Designs:
Flowers are always synonymous with Spring. So, around the season of floral blooms, I like to pay homage to life with some floral nail art. Flowers bring immense joy and happiness to life.
Materials:
- Grey nail polish
- White nail polish
- Yellow nail polish
- Green nail polish
- Fine nail art brush
Step-wise Instructions:
- Paint your nails grey as the backdrop for your nail art design. Allow the base coat to dry completely.
- Get some yellow nail polish on the paintbrush and draw the center of the flowers.
- Clean and then dip the brush in white nail polish. Draw petals of the flower around the yellow center. Each flower should have five to seven petals.
- Draw strokes of green nail polish in the vacant sections between the flowers to depict leaves.
14. Spray Painted Gold:
In case you haven’t heard of it yet, coffin nails are really trending lately. The nail shape derives its name from the uncanny resemblance with the shape of a coffin. This nail design idea is perfect for those with extra-long nails.
Materials:
- Black nail polish
- Gold nail polish
- Old toothbrush
- Clear nail polish
Step-wise Instructions:
- Establish a base of black by applying two coats of the black nail polish.
- Once the base coat has dried, pour out some gold nail polish on a clean surface.
- Dip the end of the toothbrush in the gold nail polish. Now spray the gold on the ends of the nails.
15. Rainbow Polka Dots:
If you wish to go for a multicolor nail art design, then nothing can beat the vibrancy of a rainbow. Even if you decide to ditch the defined order of VIBGYOR, you can still try out multicolor polka dots using any color available with you.

Materials:
- White nail polish
- Nail polish in the shades of the colors of the rainbow
- Lacquer
- Bobby pin (with round ends)
Step-wise Instructions:
- Apply a base coat using the white nail polish. You may have to require up to 3-4 layers depending on the brand you use. Alternatively, you can also apply a base coat using black nail polish.
- Dip the bobby pin in one of the colors (red, for instance) and press the round head against the nail to paint a perfect polka dot. Depending on the pressure that you apply, you can change the size of the polka dot.
- Carry out the same activity as described in the step above to draw polka dots of other colors.
- Seal the entire nail art design using a topcoat layer of lacquer.
Just because you like beautiful nails does not necessarily mean that you may have the necessary time required for it. So to make the process easier, you resort to shortcuts to achieve a good result. Here are some really cool nail art tips, tricks, and hacks, which I think are a work of pure genius.
- If you have issues with stability, you can ditch the nail art brush and replace it with a pen instead. Some pens, such as Sharpies, work exceptionally well and let draw intricate designs perfectly.
- Grease the skin area around your nails with vaseline so that you can easily clean up once you are done.
- You can use the tip of a pencil eyeliner or lip liner for the placement of accessories such as rhinestones. This trick is especially helpful when the accessory is too small even for tweezers.
- If you mix nail polish with glue, you can have easily removable nail polish. This is especially useful in the case of glitter nail polish. This makes taking nail polish off easy!
- If the tops of your nail polish bottles often seal shut, then you can apply a layer of petroleum jelly on the neck of the bottle. If, by any chance, the bottle is hard to open, flip it upside down and keep it for a while in hot water.
- Instead of shaking the nail polish bottle (which eventually leads to the formation of air bubbles), hold the bottle between the palm of both your hands and roll the bottle to stir up the nail polish.
